Ametefe,MargaretDoe,AdamuGarbaAlooma,ItodoJohnItodo,andGilbertToryDoeAmetefe.2024.ExaminingtheEffectsofLeadershipStylesonGrowth,Profitability,andSurvivalinNortheasternNigeriasBread-BakerySector.”JournalofPrivateEnterprise,39(3):4178.ExaminingtheEffectsofLeadershipStylesonGrowth,Profitability,andSurvivalinNortheasternNigeriasBread-BakerySectorMargaretDoeAmetefeAdamawaStateUniversity,Mubi,andCollegeofEducation,Zing,TarabaStateNigeriaAdamuGarbaAloomaUniversityofMaiduguri,BornoStateNigeriaItodoJohnItodoAdamawaStateUniversity,MubiNigeriaGilbertToryDoeAmetefeBenueStateUniversityandCollegeofEducation,Zing,TarabaStateNigeriaAbstractThisstudyexaminestheimpactofleadershipstylesontheoperationaloutcomesofbreadbakeriesinnortheasternNigeria,focusingongrowth,profitability,andlong-termsurvival.Asurveyoffifty-onebakerymanagersacrossAdamawa,Bauchi,andTarabaStateswasconductedusingadescriptive,quantitativeapproach.Thefindingsrevealthatdemocraticleadershipenhancesperformancethroughparticipatorydecision-making,whileautocraticleadershipshowspositiveeffectsinspecificcontexts.Laissez-faireleadershippresentsriskstolong-termviabilityunlessappliedinskilledenvironments.Interestingly,transformationalleadershipdidnotsignificantlyaffectmeasuredoutcomes,underscoringthecomplexityofleadershipeffectivenessindiversesettings.Thestudyhighlightstheneedforadaptive,context-specificleadershiptrainingtoimproveorganizationalperformanceinthebakeryindustry.Theseinsightscontributetobothleadershiptheoryandpracticalmanagementstrategieswithinrapidlyexpandingindustrialsectorsintheregion.
